TITLE: Project Coordinator
LOCATION: Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio
DEPARTMENT: United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) - Public Health & Translational Health (PHT)

SUMMARY:
This position supports the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) by providing project coordination and administrative support for scientific research, public health, and operational programs within the Public Health & Translational Health (PHT) division. The Project Coordinator collaborates with Principal Investigators, researchers, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams to manage project documentation, regulatory compliance, research coordination, and program administration while supporting the successful execution of research and operational initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Coordinator to support scientific and research programs at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
In this role, you will assist with coordinating research projects, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing project documentation, supporting data collection and reporting, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience supporting research, healthcare, government, or technical projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related technical discipline.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience supporting scientific, analytical, research, or technical programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • Outlook
    • PowerPoint
    • Access
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate scientific and research projects from initiation through completion.
  • Assist in developing project documentation, timelines, and tracking tools.
  • Coordinate institutional approvals and regulatory documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets and spending plans.
  • Support collection, analysis, and reporting of research and project data.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs), project managers, researchers, clinicians, and subject matter experts.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable research regulations, including:
    • IRB
    • HRPO
    • IACUC
    • IBC
    • Data Sharing Agreements
    • Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs)
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential issues or inconsistencies.
  • Document project activities and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Assist with protocol amendments and study modifications.
  • Schedule meetings and coordinate communications among project stakeholders.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support research activities.
  • Prepare and edit technical reports, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, and scholarly publications.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, databases, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Participate in meetings with government personnel, academic institutions, clinicians, and external organizations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while complying with HIPAA, Privacy Act requirements, and applicable government policies.

Security Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must successfully pass a Tier 1 (T1) Background Investigation (SF-85) and meet all government security and installation access requirements.
  • Must comply with Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Air Force security, operational security (OPSEC), and confidentiality requirements.
  • Must be able to safeguard sensitive and proprietary, research, and patient information throughout the performance of assigned duties.
  • Compliance with HIPAA and Privacy Act regulations is required.

  • Standard Monday through Friday schedule (40 hours per week).
  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to support project deadlines.
  • Position may require work at a designated government or customer location or an approved alternate worksite.
