What Is a Medical Spa Receptionist and How to Become One

Medical Spa Receptionist

What Does a Medical Spa Receptionist Do?

As a medical spa receptionist, your duties and responsibilities involve a variety of administrative and customer service tasks at a medical spa, where clients may receive laser skin therapy, permanent hair removal, liposuction, facial fillers, and other cosmetic treatments. You answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments for clients, process billing paperwork, and ensure that the office and spa remain stocked with inventory. You also provide customer service to clients at various stages of their visit. You greet them when they arrive, help prep them for medical treatments as needed, and coordinate future appointments. You also collect payments and provide information to clients regarding any treatments that the medical spa offers.

How to Become a Medical Spa Receptionist

To become a medical spa receptionist, you need to have a few qualifications, including a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate as well as some previous experience as an administrative assistant, in retail, or, ideally, as a receptionist in another field. Some knowledge of medical spa terminology and treatments is useful, but many employers provide on-the-job training. It’s helpful to have technical skills as well, such as familiarity with spreadsheet and scheduling software and point-of-sale or billing equipment. It’s essential to have excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills to succeed as a medical spa receptionist.
