Our MissionAs a faith-based organization, QueensCare provides, directly and in collaboration with others, accessible quality healthcare for low-income individuals and families residing in Los Angeles County.
QueensCare is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization originally founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Sacred Heart, whose mission of compassion and accessible healthcare continues today. QueensCare provides screening, treatment, education, and preventive and direct care to Los Angeles area residents in need. Beyond that, we also give charitable grants to other non-profits making a difference in the City of Angels and fund scholarships for those entering medical fields with an interest in working in underserved communities.
About the role
What you"ll do
- Supports and implements the organization's vision, mission, and values.

- Determines priorities and method of completing daily workload to ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely manner.

- Prepares professional presentations and delivers well prepared messages, skillfully utilizing appropriate technology.
- Understands, adheres to QueensCare policies and procedures in the performance of work duties.
- Supports administrative decisions and adapts to changes in a positive manner.
- Conducts health assessments to identify risk factors of chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease.
- Performs free health screenings for common diseases, including obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
- Educates communities about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.
- Provides counseling and intervention plans for groups, families, and individuals who are at increased risk of illness or injury.
- Conducts health screenings, administers vaccines, and provides health education at health events and assigned sites.
- Treats wounds and injuries.
- Cares for sick or injured patients.
- Prepares, monitors, and transports vaccines in accordance with CDC, LA county guidelines.
- Identifies barriers to optimal health.
- Tracks and records patient progress, plans, implements, and adjusts individualized care management according to the patient's needs. Provides clinical follow-up to ensure patient self-care goals are being met.
- Completes patient's charts in the Electronic Health Record system according to the usual accepted standards of clinical practice and according to the specific requirements set forth by the program.
- Acts as an advocate on behalf of patients/families to assist in resolving barriers that may interfere with health promotion, disease prevention, and general well-being.
- Maintains current knowledge in health topics/needs to improve knowledge and skills, to enhance role performance, and increase level of competency.
- Collaborates sensitively and professionally with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, religious, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds, and persons of all ages and lifestyle preferences.
- Provides mentorship for the professional development of colleagues, students, volunteers, social service agencies, and health ministries.
- Works in collaboration with the Community Health Workers to address the social determinants of health.
- Facilitates and participates in Health Cabinet meetings.
- Provides crisis intervention when necessary.
- Collaboratively works with Mental Health Program, Mobile Programs, and Pastoral Care Department to provide linkages to services.
- Must be willing to provide care for groups and individuals in remote locations.
- Must be willing and able to work all business hours including evenings and weekends to attend health fairs/events as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in nursing required. Bachelor's degree in nursing and/or graduate level degree in nursing or related field preferred.
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in California required.
- Clinical nursing experience, community health experience preferred.
- CPR certification required.
- Experience working with faith communities and demonstrates spiritual maturity.
- Demonstrates ability and flexibility to work in other areas of the organization as needed.
- Thinks critically to navigate business issues. Exercises independent judgment to analyze all relevant factual and objective information to make informed decisions.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures in the performance of work duties.
- Demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and education for job functions.
- Understands which decisions can be made alone and which decisions need to involve others.
- Demonstrates a self-directed mature, disciplined, and tactful approach to fulfilling job duties.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer applications such as Zoom, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, MyTurn, Penelope, and CAIR.
- Promotes professional behavior at all times.
- Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn.
- Establishes a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the scope and standards of nursing practice set forth by the Board of Registered Nursing in the State of California.
- Ability to work well with children, adolescents, and adults.
The pay range for this role is:
83,673 - 104,666 USD per year(US)
