Job description

Position Summary

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for mobilizing resources to transform the lives of youth? Central Ohio Youth for Christ (COYFC) is seeking a dynamic Development Director to lead our mission-driven efforts in identifying, cultivating, and inspiring "financial champions". In this high-impact leadership role, you will oversee a multi-faceted team—spanning grants, communications, events, and donor relations—to implement a comprehensive development strategy that fuels our vision. GOAL

To advance the mission and vision of Central Ohio Youth for Christ by mobilizing resources for our mission. This is accomplished by implementing a comprehensive development strategy for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of financial champions of our mission.

KEY OBJECTIVES
  • Leadership, Management and Accountability for all Development staff and tasks
  • Responsible to raise annual campaign income per budget
  • Responsible to manage donor relationships and PEO process
  • Responsible to manage branding, marketing and communications efforts; responsible to manage donor databases and internal data
  • Responsible to oversee key departments of events, grants, and planned giving
  • Responsible to participate in leadership responsibilities related to the Shared Services Director’s Team
SPECIFIC DUTIES Development Team LMA
  • Ensure all Development Department Annual Work‑plan and KPI goals are achieved with excellence
  • Ensure each role has a current job description, training plan, written policies and procedures and annual KPI's, and is in compliance with organizational template
  • Ensure upcoming fiscal year performance goals are set and recorded in the Annual Review and Refocus Document for each role, for each team member
  • Ensure annual review and refocus meetings are done for each departmental staff person
  • Ensure all staff are supervised at least twice monthly
  • Develop and manage task teams to mobilize volunteers for specific events or tasks as needed; keep departmental expenses under annual budgeted amount
  • Maintain an annually updated Development Plan that is revised and submitted to the ExD by March 30 of each year
Raise Donated Income
  • Participate in setting annual budget goals for the chapter
  • Hit annual goals in planned giving for future revenue
  • Manage each funding stream of donated income to achieve or exceed budgeted goals; keep departmental expenses under annual budgeted amount to produce targeted net funds
Donor Relationships
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for acquiring new donor prospects through communications, events, grant requests, personal visits, online activities etc.; cultivate prospects and encourage engagement with the mission of COYFC; create awareness of ministry needs including but not limited to financial needs
  • Invite prospects to become donors, volunteers or to participate in other ways best fitting their gifts, capacities and interests
  • Cultivate increasingly positive donor relationships with the mission and staff of YFC; build a vision for donors to become champions of the YFC mission as well as the broader Kingdom mission
Branding and Marketing
  • Develop, maintain and execute a marketing plan for COYFC
  • Oversee and maintain branding standards for COYFC
  • Manage external communications of COYFC including media
  • Develop and maintain print materials to support external communications
  • Develop and execute on a plan for social media, web and electronic communications
Manager Donor Data
  • Maintain a high-quality database tracking donor activity and donor giving
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and best practices for donor receipts and data transfer to the accounting systems from the donor systems
  • Manage web-based donor platforms and giving portals
  • Meet at least once each year to review with the IT manager the security of IT infrastructure with relationship to donor data and to ensure IT support is adequate for the team needs

  • Prepare for and participate in Management Team meetings as required
  • Help construct departmental budget and performance objectives annually
  • Submit strategic initiatives to the budget process as needed to grow Development results
  • Support overall vision and mission of COYFC and intentionally develop an anti-silo ethos in Development Department
Spiritual Responsibilities
  • Articulate and uphold COYFC religious beliefs and practices at work and outside of work; each employee serves to represent the religious message and mission of COYFC (as outlined in the Statement of Faith and Mission) to the broader community.
  • Be ready and willing to lead and contribute to distinctly Christian activities such as devotional worship or prayer services.
  • Ensure communications represent Christ in an honoring way.
  • Seek God's guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific donors and ministry initiatives.
  • Be capable of engaging the Biblical foundations of our beliefs on topics relevant to donors in a winsome way, including those who do not share our faith.
