Job description

Salary:

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Housing Technician provides direct support and supervision to clients residing in supportive housing, residential treatment, sober living, or transitional living environments. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive living environment while assisting clients with daily routines, recovery support, life skills development, and adherence to house guidelines. The Housing Technician works collaboratively with clinical and operations staff to promote stability, accountability, and client success in treatment and recovery.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor residents to ensure safety, compliance with house rules, and maintenance of a therapeutic living environment.
  • Conduct resident check-ins, room inspections, property searches, and routine safety rounds as required.
  • Assist with resident admissions, orientations, room assignments, and discharge procedures.
  • Monitor resident attendance for programming, appointments, medication times, curfews, and recovery meetings.
  • Support residents with daily living skills including hygiene, housekeeping, meal preparation, scheduling, and organization.
  • Provide transportation or coordinate transportation for appointments, meetings, employment, or approved activities as assigned.
  • Assist with collection and documentation of urine drug screens, breathalyzer tests, or other program monitoring procedures.
  • Observe and report behavioral concerns, policy violations, relapse indicators, medical concerns, or safety risks to appropriate staff.
  • Document shift notes, incident reports, resident interactions, and observations accurately and timely.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation while maintaining professionalism and resident dignity.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the housing environment.
  • Encourage accountability, healthy routines, recovery-focused behaviors, and positive peer interactions among residents.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical, medical, case management, and leadership teams regarding resident needs and concerns.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, residential housing, sober living, or human services preferred.
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in behavioral health or related field preferred but not required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or required within designated timeframe.
  • Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record may be required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and enforce house expectations consistently.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and recovery principles preferred.
  • Ability to manage conflict and crisis situations calmly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Basic computer and EMR proficiency preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform routine facility-related tasks.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies or behavioral crises.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts as needed.


Work Environment

  • Residential treatment facility, sober living environment, transitional housing, recovery residence, or behavioral health housing program.
