Position Summary
The RN Addiction Specialist works under the direction of the Manager of Nursing Services to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and highly regulated outpatient treatment environment.
The RN Addiction Specialist is a leader in providing direct care, care planning, nursing education, implementing new technologies, effective communication, and administrative duties. This position is ideal for a nurse who values meaningful patient relationships, teamwork, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
What You'll Do
Direct Patient Care
  • Perform nursing assessments and ongoing patient evaluations.
  • Administer and dispense medications safely and accurately.
  • Conduct in-person and telehealth nursing visits.
  • Respond to patient concerns and escalate medical issues when appropriate.
  • Care Planning amp; Patient Education
  • Create and implement nursing plans to promote patient health based on toxicology results, nursing assessments, and patient goals.
  • Review laboratory and toxicology results with patients.
  • Provide education regarding medications, treatment plans, and overall health maintenance.
  • Coordinate referrals and connect patients with appropriate healthcare providers.
Care Coordination amp; Leadership
  • Delegate nursing plans of care to other RNs and LPNs to promote health and recovery for patients.
  • Develop and deliver nursing education curricula for nursing groups, staff training, and community partners.
  • Serve as Charge Nurse on a rotating basis.
  • Coordinate patient care across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for all areas of CompDrug nursing.
  • Conduct chart reviews and enter provider orders.
Documentation amp; Compliance
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Ensure proper medication storage, handling, and inventory management, including controlled substances.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards.
  • Participate and lead compliance reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Hold Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN) status through the Addictions Nursing Certification Board.
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • At least 3 years RN experience in addictions nursing.
  • Outstanding communicator in written word and verbally.
  • Excellent assessment ability.
  • Advanced skills with EHR and other computer applications for documentation and communication.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to change.
  • Empathetic approach to nursing care and staff interactions.โ€ฏ

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
