Position summary
The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating the servicing and delivery of meals at congregate sites including setup and clean-up of the facility. Maintaining positive working relationships with outside partners and facility directors is essential. Daily routine includes responsibility for facilitating packing and routing of home-delivered meals, ensuring correct portioning and distribution of meals to the proper containers, and participating in the setup and breakdown of the pack-out line.
Major responsibilities and related tasks
Coordinate all activities required to ensure efficient operation of the meal site following detailed instructions provided by the Site Operations Lead and Dietitian
- Responsible for proper serving of food to congregate meals participants
- Responsible for food safe temperature guidelines in accordance with health department
- Verify that food received aligns with the approved menu
- Maintain an accurate roster of clients served
- Enroll new clients at site and forward information to Operations Lead for meal approval
- Maintain accurate site records including:
• Daily contributions
• Daily temperature logs
• Daily calibration logs
• Daily rosters
• Monthly nutrition education activity roster
• Monthly volunteer time rosters
- Notify the Operations Lead of any emergencies that arise including:
• Drop in food temperature levels
• Client accidents (sickness, falls, etc.)
• Staff accidents (injuries)
• No food arrival
Coordinate meal service and clean-up
- Train and monitor meals volunteers while serving meals to clients
- Clean and sanitize work and storage area daily
Pack meals efficiently
- Provide adequate meal portions to program participants according to ACMS guidelines
- Portion food into HDM containers according to the menu and approved serving size
- Responsible for utilizing correct serving utensils
- Provide 100% accuracy on meal counts
- Ensure that food presentation guidelines are followed
- Brief exposure to hot and cold environments while performing duties such as pulling hot pans out of the oven, pulling carts of frozen meals out of the freezer, or packing frozen meal boxes
Other responsibilities
- Attend staff training workshops
- Attend and participate in Zoom meetings
- Participate in training sessions designed to improve social skills and job-related skills in food handling, volunteer recruitment support, record maintenance, and working with older persons.
- Assist in outreach and nutrition education programs as needed
- Ability to welcome and respect people of diverse ages and races, with sensitivity to civic and cultural issues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to complete clerical duties on schedule with little or no supervision
- Ability to handle client information confidentially and discreetly
- Other duties assigned to meet goals of the department

Requirements:Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Six months of some combination of food service and customer service experience
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Word documents, Zoom video conferencing software, and software for maintaining client attendance rosters
- Must frequently lift and/or pull 15 to 50 pounds
- Flexible to work at different sites/locations if needed
