General Facilities Team Member / Recycling/Landscaping

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The position is for first-shift general maintenance. Primary responsibilities will include recycling service for the campus interior and exterior spaces with pick-up and dumpster deposit of campus-wide materials for trash and recycling. Additional responsibilities will include landscape maintenance and general maintenance as appointed by the Facilities Supervisors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES
- Daily recurring general custodial and maintenance service for campus; including but not limited to: removal of all campus trash and recyclable materials. These include hallway recycling stations and office suite recycling bins as well as exterior trash and recycling.
- Campus landscaping duties as well as winter snow removal.
- Assistance in all maintenance duties as well as monitoring all building systems for proper functionality (lighting, HVAC, plumbing, emergency detection systems) with reporting of suspected malfunctions to Facilities Office.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize the campus work order system to complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner.
- Move, or assist in the moving of furniture and fixtures in all buildings.
- Set up and break down of events and transitions throughout the school.
- Moving and placing of boxed materials into office and or building storage; as directed by office supervisors and or the Asst. Director of Facilities in all buildings.
- Overtime work as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years success in a similar public building/campus, daytime operation role; preferably in a school campus environment.
- Must have landscaping experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge and skill-level in the function of custodial tools and power equipment
- Working knowledge of personal computer functionality
- Ability to clearly verbally communicate with co-workers, visitors, and students, with a positive attitude and welcoming demeanor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Required to clearly communicate in person, via e-mail, text and telephone.
- Frequently required to walk distances, stand for prolonged periods, climb stairways, work at varied heights, use hands and fingers to operate equipment, use tools and operate computer and phone program functions.
- May require climbing and working for prolonged periods on a ladder.
- Must occasionally lift and or move objects up to 100 lbs.
- May spend prolonged periods working outdoors in all possible weather conditions.
- Must be able to drive all facilities vehicles sanding equipment.
- Good vision with ability to clearly focus to various and changing distances.
