JOB SUMMARY

Analyzes manufacturing planning to determine compliance with customer-required specifications and evaluates outside suppliers to ensure that quality standards are complying. In addition, Programs and performs layout inspection of forged, machined, and finished, assemblies using a (portable CMM) articulating Romer Arm and PCDMIS software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (But not limited to the following)

  • Develops reports used for analysis of required corrective action for circumstances where defect rates are excessive.
  • Approves outside suppliers based on established criteria.
  • Prepares Quality Assurance operation instructions, procedures, policies, guidelines, and manuals.
  • Implements calibration activities to obtain minimum variances.
  • Meets established standards for productivity and quality. Confers with supervisor when problems arise, which impact expected level of performance.
  • Responsible for supporting and ensuring compliance to ISO /AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Performs any task required to support customer requirements and company goals.
  • Coordinates rework, customer returns, and nonconforming product processing with other divisions and departments.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, process specifications, blueprints, test procedures, or formulas to verify compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Utilizes on-line data systems and electronic media to verify customer data, specifications, work in progress status, and data entry.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision. Prioritizes work in order to meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Must understand risk assessment and how to apply risk assessment tools
  • Must have knowledge of AMS2750 which covers all aspects of pyrometry in heat treatment.
  • Conduct Nadcap audit and complete Nadcap audit checklists for NDT and Heat Treat.
  • Knowledge of NDT penetrant.
  • Lead the data collection of the RCA process identifying and evaluating relevant inputs.
  • Champion of the contract review process.
  • Perform customer surveys.
  • Perform supplier rating and/or audit.
  • Champion of the Non-conforming control process.
  • Champion of the ECT process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent and five years of Quality Engineering experience within the aerospace industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CMM/Romer Arm Programming with PC DMIS software is a bonus.
  • Strong Root Cause and Corrective Action
  • Ability to use and interpret aerospace drawings and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Ability to write routine reports, create charts, business correspondence, and speak effectively with customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of manufacturing processing, standard auditing procedures, and statistical process control.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Minimum 1-year experience using a Romer Arm or Faro Arm CMM using PCDMIS software.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The working environments described here are representative of those that will be encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position will include working:

  • Indoors within a Manufacturing facility
  • Indoors around different areas of the manufacturing facility
  • Office area within the Machine Shop and Support office buildings

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to:

  • Be able to bend and twist at the waist, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, kneel, or squat while maneuvering dyes into place as needed.
  • Be able to lift up to 40 lbs. from ground level to waist repeatedly over the course of the shift.
