Description

Vari is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Inbound Operations Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the inbound ocean freight operations to ensure timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Coordinate the inbound ocean freight process from origin to destination.
  • Manage ocean carrier relationships and assist with negotiating freight rates.
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Review and approve vendor booking requests, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor and track shipments for timely arrival and take necessary actions to address exceptions.
  • Generate and analyze key performance metrics related to transit times, container utilization, and costs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Handle documentation and customs clearance processes in collaboration with customs brokers.
  • Conduct regular audits of duty invoices and landed cost invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inbound ocean freight operations.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and address any issues or concerns.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve operations.

Requirements

How you'll get there:
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience or a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in operations or supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of international shipping processes, regulations, and documentation requirements.
  • Experience in SAP and Salesforce.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
