Welding Technician

North Coast Container is seeking a Welder Technician to operate a fully operated resistance welding machine. The plant is located at 8435 NE Lombard Street., Portland, OR 97220 .

Hours are typically 6 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. but may require earlier starts or over-time with possible over-time on Saturdays.

This is a union, full-time, hourly, day shift position offering PTO, sick, Medical, Dental, Vision, life and disability insurance, plus pension program.

Duties include:

• Performs set-up and runs a fully operated resistance welding machine
• Troubleshoots machine breakdowns, implements corrections and assists maintenance with repairs.
• Removes, modifies and replaces machine components.
• Inspects drum line products for quality and makes adjustments or repairs accordingly.
• Performs daily preventative maintenance.
• Performs torch cutting.
• Performs daily housekeeping.
• Performs inventory duties.

Requires:

• Ability to perform machine welding.
• Understanding of welding concepts in order to evaluate welds.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication.
• Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics and pipe fittings helpful.
• Ability to operate machinery and build knowledge of machine functionality.
• Ability to listen and follow instructions.
• Able to work with maintenance team-members to complete daily action items.
• High School Diploma, GED or Work Experience
• Mechanical aptitude required.
• 1 year welding experience required (via school, on-the-job or hobby), 2+ years preferred

Team member will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and join the Local 16 Sheet Metal Union upon hire.
