Position Available: Counseling Manager

We are seeking a full-time Career Counselor who is reliable, compassionate, has a great work ethic, and also loves to work with youth! Be the mentor who helps students strive for academic excellence by empowering them to do their best, overcome challenges and work to develop the skills to become lifelong learners.

In this position you will Plan, organize, direct and administer the Career Counseling program. Provide supervision, training, assessment, and leadership for Career Counseling staff. Analyze counseling and guidance procedures and techniques to improve quality of service. Visit classrooms and dormitories to establish meaningful working relationships with instructors and independent living advisors and acts as a liaison between students and these departments. Provide information to the Student Human Resources Officer, and upon request, represent the students at review panels. Meet with the Student Human Resources Officer for consultation on students’ individual and group issues. Serve as a member of committees to review policies and procedures relating to the Counseling Program and the Center’s operation. Plan, organize and control the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures.

We are looking for an individual who is well organized with great attention to detail and possesses strong oral and written communication skills. The ability to work as a team member and the ability to be self-motivated is essential for success. The position requires proficiency in the use of computers and common computer software (Microsoft Office and other career options and job search applications).

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, vocational training, and/or experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-to-year basis. Must possess a New York State Valid Driving License with an acceptable driving record. Compensation is based on experience.
