Communications Design Specialist

General Summary

Supports and promotes the Rayburn brand, culture, and marketing initiatives. Assists in many areas of the business to maintain messaging and presentation of data and business concepts both internal and external.  

Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Knowledge

• Helps develop and create content for Communications Team; identify opportunities to leverage content across multiple platforms – including internal media, social media, website and other channels.
• Creates, edits, and produces graphic designs that align with Rayburn culture, messaging, and brand.
• Produces graphic designs to assist internal departments for a wide range of projects.
• Maintains internal digital signage to celebrate staff, foster employee engagement, promote Rayburn and our Members, and capture Rayburn culture.
• Prepares and creates social media plans, including template plans that could be used by partner organizations, as part of major communications campaigns
• Assists with the development and execution of communication plans to support a variety of organizational objectives; communication plans include identification of various audiences, development of key messages and methods of communication.
• Supports cross-organization collaboration with other communicators.
• Assists with coordinating media, community, and member events.

Key Accountabilities

• Complies with all policies, procedures and confidentiality requirements or obligations, effective as a result of employment with Rayburn.
• Timely shares complete information with others including Rayburn management and staff, contractors, and other third parties, as required.
• Delegates jobs and tasks, as approved by supervisor, to appropriate employees, providing complete information and resources to properly complete such jobs and tasks.
• Timely provides Rayburn management with complete reports on work and tasks performed as such reports are requested or required.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor or executive management.

Job Specifications / Skills Required

Education:

Bachelor’s, Associate Degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, visual communication, marketing, advertising, or a related field.

Experience:

2+ years of communications and design experience

Skills:

•         Strong problem solving, typography, color theory, page layout and conceptual skills required.

•         Strong verbal and written communication skills

•         Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

•         Photography skills including editing preferred but not required

•         Ability to take initiative and drive for results, often working independently.

•         Capacity for multiple projects/activities with a commitment to deadlines

•         High accountability in maintaining confidentiality of information.

•         Innate drive to collaborate with communicators across the organization.

•         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

•         Experience with content strategy, creation, collaboration, and promotion.

•         Ability to stay up to date with current trends.

•         High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

•         Knowledge of design tools (like Canva), and Adobe Creative Suite to generate social media posts and blog content. 

•         Detail oriented with excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills

Physical Demands

•         Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer workstation.

•         Ability to perform repetitive motions in order to use a computer keyboard, test equipment and operate hand tools.

•         The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; open file cabinets and bend or stand as necessary
