IT Systems Engineer

PDS Tech is currently hiring an IT Systems Engineer in Chesterfield, MO.

This includes the data center environmental infrastructure, virtual environment, storage, networking, and related applications. This will include shared responsibility with other peers as an escalation point for incident management and overall problem management responsibilities.  The IT Systems Engineer works to ensure performance, availability, supportability and security of implemented infrastructure.  Expertise is maintained in VMWare, Microsoft, Dell server, and various SAN technologies.

1. Cloud Administration – Office 365, EC2, RDS, Auto Scaling, VPC, Cloud Watch, Route 53, Elastic Load Balancing and Lamda
2. Windows Server Support/Administration - Administer virtual server infrastructure across multiple data centers.  Microsoft environment includes Exchange/Skype for Business, Active Directory (DNS/DHCP/DFS), SharePoint, Windows clustering, Dell hardware. This will include overall domain ownership, maintenance of OU structure, and maintenance of Group Policy Objects.
3. Virtual Infrastructure - Administration and monitoring of VM Ware related infrastructure which includes Horizon View, vCenter, and SRM. Storage components consisting of Nimble, EMC, and Compellent.
4. Capacity & Configuration Management - Establish and/or support processes to ensure capacity monitoring is in place for server performance & storage components. Support inventory and configuration management objectives for data center system infrastructure, software installations, licensing and additional peripherals (such as printers and other designated components). Ensure that all operational processes are clearly documented and centrally maintained.
5. Critical Application Support – Be the subject matter expert for applications as necessary outside of Microsoft (such as products from Oracle, Thycotic and Identrust).  Work to document and spread knowledge via cross training as well as directing others to perform tasks so that single sources of knowledge don’t exist for critical applications.
6. Monitoring and Maintenance - On call support for monitoring and responding after hours to infrastructure alerts/availability. Includes some after-hours maintenance as necessary such as patch management and software updates. Maintenance and on call duties are shared with other team members.
7. Project Management - Develop necessary project plans to ensure timely and efficient completion of assigned projects. This to include tracking statistical data, performing research, outlining project tasks and developing necessary management reporting.
8. Security Scan Remediation - Work with team members and IT Security to understand and remediate identified security vulnerabilities.  Where necessary, facilitate countermeasures or alternative approaches to address security exposures.
9. End User Support - Assist with help desk escalations as necessary for end user issues.  Provide guidance and direction as necessary for desktop technicians.

The Experience You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s degree four year college or related certification and experience required. Three or more years in Information Technology with demonstrated advancement in responsibilities and proficiencies in past roles.
• Working knowledge of Windows enterprise platforms (2012R2/2016 Server), Windows 10, VMWare, Exchange, storage/backup technologies and networking skills in a TCP/IP environment. Nimble, Dell Compellent, and EMC SAN knowledge is also required. PKI and CA knowledge in how to issue and manage certificates. Broad Security fundamentals.
• Various relevant (VMWare, Networking, Microsoft, SAN) certifications coupled with real world medium to enterprise level environments preferred.
