Service Mechanic

Position: Service Mechanic       
Job Location: North Branch, MN
Compensation: $20-$30/hour
Work Schedule: Mon-Thurs
Job Details:

• Analyze operation of systems and components of Stepp Mfg. asphalt maintenance equipment to determine performance
• Inspect mechanical and electrical systems; diagnose and repair systems
• Disassemble systems, examine parts for defects and excessive wear
• Repair or replace defective parts, adjust settings, and reassemble according to specifications
• Operate electronic testing equipment, precision instruments and gauges, hand tools, portable power tools, welding and cutting equipment, and cranes and hoists
• Weld and fabricate parts as needed
• Collaborate with team members and higher-level personnel to determine the best course of action and ensure customer’s needs are satisfied
• Be willing to travel for on-site repairs as necessary
• Keep the work area clean and organized
• Actively participate in the Company’s continuous improvement efforts by identifying and communicating basic process improvements.
• Ensure on time deliveries
• Ability and willingness to cross-train and fill-in where needed

Applicant Requirements:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical documents
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair various mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical functions
• Ability to repair or replace defective parts, adjust settings, and reassemble according to specifications
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts
• Gripping with hands/fingers, reaching, fine dexterity and motor skills for efficient and regular use of basic hand and power tools and assembly of small component parts.
• Remaining alert to surroundings, specifically when operating equipment and/or machinery.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions to resolve the customer’s issues
• Use of logic and understanding to draw conclusions from relevant or missing information
• Attention to detail and concentration towards task at hand.
• Requires repetitious and sustained postures alternating between crouching, kneeling, bending, standing for extended periods of time
• 2-year degree in Automotive or Diesel Technology or combination of training and experience that provides equivalent skills, knowledge and abilities
• Must be 18 years of age or older
