LOCATION: Ideally Chattanooga, TN. Remote with Travel is possible.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Global Director of Engineering Governance and Process Excellence is responsible for the following enterprise-wide functions:
  • Plan and execute the transition to the ONEAstec CAD System platform
  • ERP Engineering Processes
  • CAD Standards Development and Training
  • General Management of the Global CAD Team

Deliverables & Responsibilities
ONEAstec CAD System Platform
  • Develop and execute ONEAstec CAD transition plan in conjunction with ERP rollout being executed through 2026.
    • ONEAstec CAD System platform - includes SolidWorks Mechanical, SolidWorks Electrical, PDM, and CADlink into ERP
  • Utilize external consultants to:
    • Assist with IT infrastructure audits at sites across the globe to ensure that it meets standard requirements (bandwidth, latency, application, etc.).
    • Assist with implementation of PDM and CADlink per site to ensure that Astec is adequately prepared for the transitions and that the tool and data is properly validated in advance.
  • Manage and lead the Global CAD team.
  • Coordinate with site Engineering and CAD leadership to ensure that CAD data meets standards and is clean enough to feed ERP seamlessly.

ERP Engineering Processes
  • Management of EPR Engineering Shared Services Team
    • Management of the Engineering Change Order (ECR/ECO) Process in ERP
    • Management of New Item Creation (NIC) process in ERP
    • Auditing for adherence to standards and processes
  • Management of future ERP Material Review Board
    • Build out Review Board (cross functional team)
    • Review and approve requests for new raw materials, hardware, Libraries, etc.
  • Build and manage common design libraries for engineering globally

CAD Standards
  • Management of Enterprise CAD engineering standards. Work with cross functional team of SMEs to develop and to modify new standards as required.
  • Training – develop and facilitate CAD and engineering standards training across the enterprise sites where appropriate.
  • Oversees the update and maintenance of all electronic libraries of drawings, details, standard plans, and CAD styles. Develops procedures, routines, and programming scripts for drawing templates.
  • Auditing for adherence to CAD standards by general CAD population. The process will need to be developed.

General Management
  • Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership and guidance to the CAD engineering team. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging professional growth and skill development among team members.
  • Establish annual CAD strategy and budget. Develop KPI’s and report on progress against the plan monthly.
  • Travel to ASTEC facilities throughout the world as needed.

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in Engineering preferred, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field of study
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in CAD engineering and systems management across multi-site organization(s) with a global footprint
  • Strong experience with CAD platforms (Mechanical and Electrical), product data management software, and systems to seamlessly connect CAD data to ERP systems
    • Experience with Solidworks, SolidWorks Electrical, PDM, and CADLINK is preferred
  • Strong experience using consultants to seamlessly integrate to integrate CAD platforms, product data management, CADlink’s across multiple locations globally
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure required to integrate CAD and product data management systems seamlessly across global locations
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and mentoring CAD Management teams.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard CAD tools and methodologies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process optimization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional
    teams and external vendors
