Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

Perform a range of relationship-based philanthropic functions toward Development annual and strategic fund-raising goals, with a concentration on In-kind appeals and Special Events. Serve as Primary Relationship Manager for an identified portfolio of prospects and donors (such as in-kind supporters), as assigned by SDD, to build strong relationships through philanthropic phases of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Expand in-kind giving function to meet program needs
  • Conduct four in-kind drives per year: Back to School, Halloween, Holiday Helper, and Spring.
  • Develop and implement specific action pan for Holiday Helper as major in-kind activity, growing both components
  • Sponsor a family drive. Sponsor toy drives, including annual classic car show/toy drive
  • Coordinate with program staff re: general drives and special appeal needs, wish lists and activities
  • Coordinate in-kind drives/service day activities as cultivation, solicitation, stewardship opportunities, such as “Good Hearts, Giving Hands” hygiene drive, A Book to Call Their Own” book drive, “Bundled in Love” coat drive
  • Work with program staff to coordinate and participate in on-site events
  • Work with program leadership on solicitations based on client needs
  • Work with Senior Director of Development to identify corporate sponsorships
  • Provide information to Communications re: drives and social/media
  • Coordinate with Communication re: updates for in-kind section of website
  • Have overall responsibility for organizing annual special event, working with volunteer committee and leadership:
  • Develop master action plan, timeline, checklists and status reports, working with and reviewed by Event Committee chair and SDD
  • Organize Committee and Subcommittee meetings, including preparing rosters, meeting notices, agenda and minutes; maintain close contact with Committee
  • Identify and have primary responsibility for working with all event vendors: site, food, beverage, rentals, program, event management software contractor, music, sound, lighting, decorations, etc., including pick and delivery, as needed
  • Coordinate all facets of day of logistics, from set-up to clean-up
  • Conduct appeals as assigned, such as silent auction
  • Work with Development Coordinator on tracking in CRM
  • Work with SDD and Board members on house parties or other cultivation/solicitation events
  • Participation in the organization of cultivation and stewardship events, such as Board installation, open houses, ground-breaking, etc.
  • Investigate a young professionals group and identify a fund-raising project.
  • Participate in Development team and cross-team meetings.
  • Participate in Development cross-functions, as needed.
  • Participate in Development-Communications cross-functions, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a nonprofit philanthropy/development department or function, with major event planning knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Willingness to drive for in-kind and event activities in Southeast Los Angeles County.
  • Ability to work night and weekend activities, as needed.
  • Must have California Drivers License and Insurance
