Description:

The Summer Program Instructor assists in the implementation of the summer program. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning for and teaching classes/rotations for the camp attendees and managing a designated group of campers. It includes curriculum writing, lesson planning and preparation, teaching, camper supervision, and activity planning. The candidate for this position must have the aptitude and willingness to learn other programs as needed. The ideal candidate must be organized, creative, and have excellent communication skills, as well as thrive in a fast-paced team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Strong commitment to core mission, values, and vision of Destiny Christian Academy.
  • Possess a deep commitment to ministry and be in agreement with Destiny Christian Academy’s confession of faith, mission, vision and core values.
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented; adept at multitasking and juggling, planning for various tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Create curriculum for their specific rotations, including lesson plans, daily agendas, and training materials.
  • Prep, plan, and order materials for the rotations.
  • Teach daily lessons in the specified rotation area.
  • Manage and lead a group of campers.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work independently and to influence others both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to anticipate administrative needs and implement tasks.
  • Strong team player.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to relate and interact professionally with volunteers, staff, and church family.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to create and execute engaging curriculum for the specified rotations.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of settings.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position’s duties are normally performed in a standard work environment based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort is required; therefore, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. He or she may be required to walk or sit for extended periods and may be exposed to outside weather conditions, including but not limited to heat, cold, humidity, rain, and direct sunlight. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment, such as a computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and other similar machines.



WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions are dynamic. This requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule that may require occasional weekend and/or evening hours. The employee will be using his or her personal vehicle; therefore, he or she must hold a valid driver’s license in the state where he or she is based and have appropriate auto insurance as required by law. The employee needs to be able to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work assignments, and do well under pressure. He or she must also demonstrate professionalism and integrity, take initiative, and exercise confidentiality. Finally, the employee must understand and apply all school policies and procedures, follow instructions, be detailed oriented, and have good follow-through on all projects.
