Job Description

Position Overview:

The Accountant tracks and evaluates day-to-day activities and is responsible for managing company disbursements (accounts payable & credit card transactions). Accountant responsibilities include, establishing financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information.

Location:

Headquarters: Adel, Iowa.

Hybrid schedule: Monday – Wednesday must work in office and Thursday – Friday may work from home.

Essential Job Functions:

  • General ledger reconciliation/AJEs.
  • Assist with tracking and managing purchase orders, oversees overall purchasing procedure.
  • Understands our invoice payment system and provides assistance, backup and oversight duties related to payables processing. Oversees Concur credit card reports and verifies for accuracy with credit card statements.
  • Ensures credit card transactions from Concur are accurately reported in accounting software.
  • Maintains appropriate records in order to produce annual 1099 statements.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Meet financial accounting objectives, establish, and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
  • Deposit checks.
  • Prepares month end reports for the Controller and assists Controller in information gathering for audit/review and tax preparation.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • State Filings/Registrations.
  • Processes multi-state bi-weekly payroll.
  • Coordinate/communicate with Human Resources for:
    1. Benefit changes for new hires and terms.
    2. Credit cards assigned to employees.
  • Provide backup and support in the absence of any other finance team members.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new department processes, policies and procedures which may enhance the workflow of the department and/or internal controls.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of accounting related experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and general accounting structure.
  • Strong organization, time management and project management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Advanced analytical skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvement.
  • Outstanding mathematical skills, detail orientation and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and apply new tools and a desire to identify innovative solutions to use technology to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite accounting software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Willingness to support other departments within the company.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
