Position: Electronics SMT Operator I

Department: Electronics OperationReports to: Electronics Production SupervisorHours: Monday – Thursday 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM FLSA Status: Hourly Rev. Date: 01/09/2023


SUMMARY

The Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Machine Operator ! is responsible for assembling materials and components for delivery as needed per production schedules. The ideal candidate will use their exceptional organizational skills to coordinate with the production team and deliver staged product kits to production line stations on their scheduled day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize the Production schedule to coordinate and prioritize work order sequence.
  • Prepare production feeder carts according to work order documentation.
  • Utilize a pick list and the ERP system to find locations of raw material.
  • Utilize material handling process to label and put away raw material numerically and by other predetermined categories.
  • Demonstrate correct method of mechanical and power feeder setup.
  • Transfer components from bulk/tube packaging to tape and reel packaging.
  • Operate automatic SMD parts component counter to verify SMT, radial and axial components.
  • Verify inventory levels of raw components and Work In Process (WIP) through the Cycle counting process.
  • Communicate part issues effecting kit preparation and delivery to line.
  • Conduct investigations into inventory discrepancies.
  • Demonstrate the correct handling and storage for moisture sensitive devices.
  • Complete all necessary Health and Safety trainings.
  • Perform other duties as needed to accomplish company mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve challenges.
  • Effective verbal and written communicator.
  • Detail orientated with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to deal with frequent changes and unexpected delays while maintaining a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical components and ESD protocols a plus.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience and understanding of inventory and kitting processes.
  • ERP systems experience preferred, will train the right candidate.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, reports, and documents. Ability to communicate effectively across multiple site functions and team members. Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand/walk most of their shift and sit occasionally. The employee may have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Additional physical demands include, but are not limited to, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and performing repetitive motions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Operation of or proximity to materials and mechanical parts, most commonly moving machinery used in manufacturing of electronic & cable products. OSHA approved safety glasses with side shields are provided by EMCom Inc. at no cost to employees. ANSI Z87-2 prescription glasses will be provided to the employee at no cost. The noise level in the building is moderate, hearing protection is available to employees. Some processes use leaded and unleaded solder chemistries. Proper ventilation and Personal Protective Equipment are provided.
