Position Overview:

Prepares clear, complete and accurate working plans and detailed drawings from templates or rough or detailed sketches or notes. Prepares code-compliant photovoltaic solar system designs in AutoCAD for multi-home communities across various states and jurisdictions. Creates 3D models using SketchUp or Aurora.

Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


• Draws highly accurate and code compliant PV system designs.
• Works within pre-determined templates to generate new build PV permit packages
• Receives guidance on design interpretation related to layout specifications and procedures.
• Uses knowledge of residential solar PV system design or residential electrical design to complete drawings.
• Uses AutoCad LT (CAD) for PV system designs and PVSyst software to accurately model production forecasts. Also uses Aurora software.to model shading
• Calculates allowances, dimensions, etc. within procedural and standard practice limitations.
• Prepares layout drawings of tolerances, dimensions and materials.
• After review by designated team member, makes any adjustments or changes as necessary or desired.
• Participates in review of design work completed by other team members.
• Maintains project standards, conventions, and quality.
• Utilizes in-house project management software to maintain workflow and communication (Salesforce)
• Assists in development and maintenance of CAD templates
• Other duties as assigned


Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


• Proficient with Auto-CAD LT
• Proficient with 3D modeling in SketchUp or Aurora.
• General construction understanding including ability to read electrical and structural plans
• 1-3 years' experience with residential PV system design or residential electrical design
• Understanding of NEC 690 and residential building standards
• Effective communication skills with regards to project timelines and resource requirements
• Experience in high-volume, metrics-driven atmosphere
• Must be willing and able to review other's work and happily accept revisions to their own work product


Non-essential (Valued but not required skills & experience):


• Vocational school graduation or certificate in CAD
• Knowledge of jurisdictional requirements for PV system design
• Experience modeling systems performance in PVSyst
• NAPCEP certification

Physical demands & work environment:


Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, co-owner is occasionally
required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; reach with
hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10
pounds. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
Work environment: The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
Work environment is in office.
