Role and Responsibilities
- Administration of benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, flexible spending, 401k, etc. Continually provide outstanding service to employees and vendor partners.
- Assist in the design and implementation of new benefits programs, focusing on a comprehensive approach to employee health. Examine plan designs and benefits cost changes.
- Serve as primary contact with the benefit broker, plan vendors and third-party administrators.
- Lead a team comprised of a Benefit Coordinator and Wellness Coach, providing coaching and development of team members.
- Oversee transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
- Evaluate and revise internal processes to increase the employee experience and efficiency.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting to include ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, etc.
- Coordinate daily benefits processing. Handle enrollments, COBRA, employee changes, beneficiaries, disability, 401k, and compliance testing.
- Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and payment of administrative fees for all group plans.
- In collaboration with broker, analyze current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience and competitive trends in benefits programs. Forecast trends and assist with future benefits designs.
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package and increase utilization.
- Design and deliver materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions. Provide training and support to employees.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field
- Six plus years of related employee benefits leadership and administration experience.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
- Project management.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
- Knowledge of benefits contract language.
- Proven expertise in pertinent regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
