PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The custodian supervisor is responsible for the appearance and light maintenance of the buildings and grounds for the parish and school. This position provides coordinated janitorial services, moving of equipment, provides set-up and cleaning services for evening and weekend activities in parish facilities, and grounds maintenance in parish.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Major Responsibilities and Regular Activities of Position:
Supervises part time custodial staff to ensure job functions are being performed and completed in a timely manner.
Performs general cleaning of church, classrooms, hallways, public bathrooms, meeting rooms, drinking fountains, offices, cafeteria, gym, entrances, parish and school offices and kitchen, etc. on a regular schedule. Cleaning may involve cleaning tasks such as dusting, cleaning fixtures, cleaning windows, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning sinks and toilets, removing garbage, and other related tasks.
Performs light maintenance as needed, such as replacing light bulbs and cleaning fixtures and switches as needed; replacing air filters on a regular basis.
Checks outside of buildings and grounds for damage, litter, and/or conditions of general deterioration.
Assists ground persons as needed. Performs mowing, raking, and weathering of grounds, ice and snow removal, as part of grounds maintenance assistance.
Performs scheduled monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties, i.e., floor waxing, painting, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc., as directed by the Facilities Director in accordance with the parish and school maintenance schedule.
Provides set-up and cleaning of facilities for evening and weekend activities as directed by Facilities Director as needed.
Inspects and cleans walls for graffiti and markings as needed.
Other duties as necessary to ensure to efficient functioning of the Parish
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR ABILITIES
Good organization and planning skills
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and to have complete mobility in the buildings and grounds
Ability to perform essential functions of the position without creating a danger to self or others
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, talk, feel, hear, and handle
Ability to work with minimal direction. Self-motivated
General knowledge and janitorial supplies and their application
Ability to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines
Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Willingness to foster the Church’s mission
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and work experience that allows the employee to perform the required work
Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
Must be able to complete successfully the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
Background screening required
Valid driver’s license required
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed indoors and outdoors as needed. Possible exposure to weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to cleaning chemicals and bodily fluids. Requires complete mobility in the building and grounds for long periods. Involves weekend, evening, and on-call hours. Frequent lifting.
