Precision Tool & Die Maker
Shift: 1st
(Summer hours)
- 1st Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM Monday to Thursday (6:30AM – 12:30 PM Fridays)
Pay: $62,400 to $72,800 per year with some OT
Summary of Responsibilities:
As a Precision Tool & Die Maker you'll play a critical role in building, repairing, and maintaining dies, molds, fixtures, and assembly machines. Your expertise will be instrumental in assisting Engineering with prototypes and ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision in manufacturing processes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan, construct, alter, and repair a diverse range of dies, including progressive and compound dies, molds, drill jigs, milling fixtures, and assembly dies.
- Execute machining operations requiring advanced setups and methods to maintain tight tolerance fits.
- Conduct tool tryouts, troubleshoot, and diagnose operational issues, ensuring optimal performance.
- Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities and troubleshoot new dies, fixtures, and assembly machines as needed.
- Collaborate with Engineering on prototype development, fabrication, and print adjustments.
- Conduct quality inspections of new parts before releasing them to production.
- Fabricate required items based on verbal instructions, sketches, or complex prints.
- Provide assistance and support to colleagues with questions or issues related to tool and die functions.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and uphold quality standards at all times.
- Coordinate with suppliers to assist with tool repairs and new tool designs.
- Secondary Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate various shop equipment as required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Specialized training is equivalent to two years of college plus five or more years of tool and die experience.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating Bridgeport milling machines, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, and optidress and J&S wheel dressers for form grinding.
- Experience using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and comparators.
