Job Description
QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR
Position Summary:
Performs pressure test, thermal test, dimensional measurements, assembly tasks, and final inspection to certify parts and products meet specifications.
Possess the knowledge to read, interpret technical drawings, inspect complex machined parts, and assemblies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform receiving, in-process, 1st article, and final inspections including dimensional, visual, documentation and traceability of material and products.
- Performs testing activities i.e., Pressure, Thermal, and others.
- Evaluate test reports to determine product conformance to specified requirements and provide accurate test data and test results.
- Ability to self-manage inspection priorities based on production needs.
- Identify, document, and report non-conformances in QMS (Quality Management System)
- Contribute, document, and report corrective actions in QMS (Quality Management System).
- Maintains measurement equipment, performs routine calibration of equipment “as needed,” and verifies equipment is within specifications.
- Create and maintain CMM programs for accuracy and sustainability.
- Perform job function independently or with minimal assistance.
- Meet target efficiencies and utilization for department.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Reporting unsafe conditions and required maintenance to Operations Manager, as needed.
- Understands and adheres to all company health, safety, and QMS procedures as they relate to essential job functions.
- Maintain professional relationship with machinists, assemblers, test technicians, Supervisors and Managers
- Keep work are clean and organized (5S)
- Train and mentor others in the department
- Assist all departments in any quality control & assurance related tasks as deemed necessary by Operations Manager
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Measurement System and Analysis (MSA) – Gage R&R studies, GD&T, product measurement and analysis
- Write basic reports in MS Word or Power Point and be able to utilize MS Excel for data collection.
- Familiarity with testing equipment/understanding of test data and analysis and knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, First Article, DOE
- Experience in programming and operating a CMM
- Significant working knowledge of inspection tools, sampling plans, supplier corrective action programs, and source inspection programs
- Use hand tools such as calipers, measuring tape, wrenches, etc.
- Use precision measuring equipment (bore gauges, verniers, micrometer, and indicators)
- Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions, drawings, and blueprints (GD&T)
- Basic computer skills for time entry, document lookup, write non-conformance reports
- Basic math skills to interpret drawings and trig functions
- Strong attention to detail – ability to articulate
- Demonstrate analytical skills
- A team player, working closely with others in a demanding environment to meet frequently changing production schedules.
Minimum experience required:
- Working in a manufacturing environment, minimum of at least 5 years, or vocational training combined with five (5) years of practical experience.
Required education:
- High School diploma; or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
