Legal Assistant Paralegal

Boutique two-attorney litigation firm in Brentwood has an immediate opening for a legal assistant/paralegal. The firm’s primary areas of focus include entertainment, intellectual property, business/corporate disputes, and real estate.

Prior employer reference from litigation attorney is required.

Hours: Monday-Friday 10 am – 3 pm.

Pay: Hourly based on experience

Responsibilities:

• Editing and finalizing litigation documents
• Filing with State and Federal courts (including e-filing) and corresponding with litigation services companies
• Calendaring and managing court dates/deadlines
• Case management tasks including setting up court calls
• General administrative duties, including answering phones, timekeeping, filing, and opening new matters
• Assisting firm controller with tracking of billing and firm expenses

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of litigation experience in both state and federal court
• Strong understanding of civil litigation, civil procedure, and local rules
• Demonstrated experience with State and Federal Court filings and eFilings
• Experience using attorney services and litigation support companies
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and ability to quickly learn new case management programs is required
• Administrative experience including calendaring, case management, and billing
• Ability to produce documents quickly and accurately
• Must be extremely detail oriented, organized, and have great follow through skills
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, will be required to communicate with clients, opposing and co-counsel, and court clerks on behalf of the firm
• Self-starter and problem solver, ability to handle tasks without supervision
