Press Break Operator

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Press Break Operator for the 1st shift, to become an integral part of our team!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up press brake machinery according to job specifications, including selecting appropriate dies and tools.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine bending sequences and angles.
• Load material onto the press brake and position it accurately between the punch and die.
• Adjust machine settings, such as bending speed, back gauge position, and tonnage, to achieve desired bends.
• Operate the press brake controls to lower the punch and bend the material to the required angle.
• Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Make adjustments to machine settings and tooling as needed to correct deviations in bend angles or dimensions.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on press brake machinery, such as lubrication, cleaning, and tooling replacement.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Provides basic setup training to apprentice level employees as required.
• Performs set up of press brake to drawing specifications.
• Operates production machines after setups are completed.
• Makes machine adjustments to support product quality.
• Utilizes hand tools to check for dimensional conformances and follows work instructions shown on the shop order, print, control plan, SPC charts, conformance charts and any other appropriate documents.
• Abides by all company policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Hand Book, policy manuals, work instructions, bulletins and dated memos
• Communicate with supervisors, team members, and other departments to coordinate workflow and ensure production goals are met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with Amada RG Press Brakes with NC-2X Control Back gage (a plus).
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, draw and interpret graphs.
• Ability to perform SPC functions, which may include calculating set-back and bend allowance.
• Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.
• Previous experience operating press brake machinery in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
• Familiarity with different types of metals and their properties.
• Strong mathematical skills for calculating bend allowances, angles, schematics, and dimensions.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials up to 50lbs.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to: Stand and walk, use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach. The employee is frequently required to bend over, lean in, stoop or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
