Job Description

The Vehicle Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing gasoline and diesel powered automotive and related equipment. Duties include but are not limited to performing skilled work in the repair of automobiles, trucks, tractors, and other motorized equipment. The incumbent determines repairs needed on equipment, inspects quality of work in progress and conducts road tests upon completion; orders parts and equipment and makes estimates on costs of repairing damaged equipment. Must have knowledge of standard tools, materials and practices of the automotive trade. Knowledge of the principles and mechanics of internal combustion engines and occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools, acetylene torches, grinders and other tools and equipment of the trade. Sufficient physical condition to perform heavy lifting up to 100 lbs.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Three (3) years of experience as a journeyman automotive mechanic including some experience in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience

SALARY: $28.65 PER HOUR
