Job Summary: The Food Pantry Manager, at the direction of the Executive Director of Parsh Mission (EDPM), will maintain the parish's food pantry and Mobile Loaves and Fishes (MLF) programs which is an integral part of parish life by identifying its social needs and serving those needs by mobilizing the resources of the parish, diocese, city, and state to serve the poor and needy.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the development and advancement of the Food Pantry and Mobile Loaves and Fishes (MLF)
  • Oversee and manage food pantry distributions, including Saturday mornings
  • Collaborate with pastoral staff to identify areas of need
  • Coordinate the recruitment, training, and appropriate formation of volunteers
  • In collaboration with the EDPM and accounting department, develop and maintain annual budget
  • Develop and maintain appropriate ministry volunteer/client database for Food Pantry and MLF ministries
  • Develop and execute plan for intake and processing of requests for assistance
  • Solicit in-kind or monetary donations from parish lay ministries, community organizations, or collaborative partners
  • Pick up donations from participating retail establishments when volunteers are not available
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of parish and community resources, and share these resources with pastoral staff
  • Develop and implement new, relevant ministries or programs in consultation with the Pastor or his designee
  • Communicate with the media team regarding events, workdays, and other newsworthy events
  • Advocate for parish-wide support
  • Responsibly manage all resources allocated to social ministry
  • Must maintain City of Austin Food Manager certification throughout employment
  • Stay abreast of current trends in social ministry through diocesan and community training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • Skill in verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Ability to operate word-processing software.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious and laity.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time management techniqu

  • Ability to proficiently communicate in English (conversing, reading, and writing).


Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Training:
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in pastoral or social ministry work
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in food handling and preparation Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
