Iron Fabrication Services Inc. is a leading fabricator and supplier of all types of steel used in many major construction projects such as large scale commercial and residential buildings. It was founded by a group of professionals in the construction market. Our quality is visible throughout the Metropolitan area of Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland and can be seen on many current construction projects.
We offer a wide range of products including prefabricated stairs, rails, ladders, catwalks, grating structures. We are as well specialized in structural steel fabrication and erection including columns, beams, deck and steel joists.
Iron Fabrication Services (IFS) is fast growing company and therefore we are always looking for qualified Estimator that is motivated and wants to grow with our company
Responsibilities
· Create & maintain digital project folders & files. Manage drawings, specifications, addenda, ASI, RFI, etc.
· Review and analyze drawings, specifications, schedules, and other documentation presented by the client to accurately prepare and estimate projects. Including alternate and breakdown pricing.
· Request material quotes from vendors and bids from subcontractors for detailing, engineering, finishing, installation & equipment.
· Compare & analyze vendor quotes and subcontractor bids to determine least cost & optimal schedule. Understand market pricing to analyze vendor pricing & subcontractor bids to ensure our proposals will target optimal profit margins.
· Determine labor costs for in-house fabrication and request subcontractor pricing when required due to company capabilities or schedule.
· Correspond with sales representatives, architects, & contractors to obtain missing information and recommend change/substitution to improve cost & lead time.
· Prepare complete cost estimate analysis and write detailed bid proposal w/ scope of work & qualifications.
· Assists in providing details of contracts received to project management & accounting for project turnover to ensure budget can be maintained & billing/estimate can be setup.
· Performs other related work for completion of job history and file.
Requirements
· 3+ years’ experience in the miscellaneous metals and(or) structural steel industry
· Able to read Architectural and Structural Construction drawings.
· Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
· Possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to the completion of difficult assignments.
· Ability to develop and improve upon product knowledge.
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task.
· Strong organizational & communication skills.
· TeklaEPM (Fabsuite) & Sage300 (Timberline) experience preferred.
Job Type
· Full time; 7 am to 4:30 pm preferred, but flexible.
