Job Description

DCOMM is looking for a skilled and reliable Construction Manager. The Telecom Construction Manager oversees the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects related to telecommunications infrastructure. They manage a team of construction personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.

*Position potentially available in Austin


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is entered into Penguin Data
  • Acknowledge work approvals in Penguin Data
  • Oversee contractor invoicing approval
  • Coordinate daily/weekly reporting from cross functional sources
  • Identify target dates for each project & keep on pace to exceed targets.
  • Verify contractors are meeting safety standards, PPE, vehicle safety and field safety
  • Tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Client relationship building and maintenance
  • Vendor Management
  • Monitor W2 Headcount and payroll
  • Process Improvement
  • Monitor inventory - Usage, excess & waste
  • Writing up reports, budgets, project plans, and presenting them to relevant stakeholders.
  • Staying up to date with safety codes and advancements in the industry.

Requirements:

  • Driving is a requirement for this position. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and safe driving record.
  • Willingness to answer calls and engage resources during scheduled on call rotation's with the potential of field visits for outages that escalate past established time durations.
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift loads up to 50 lbs. and use bucket truck when necessary
  • Working knowledge of construction machines such as trencher, mini-excavator, directional bore rigs and Bucket trucks.
  • Knowledge of city codes for underground work such as permits, restoration, traffic control and locates.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and software applications to include Microsoft Office
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Able to work outdoors in a non-climate-controlled environment. Position may involve extensive walking during the day
  • Willingness to make semi regular day trips to local markets.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and motivate others
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience in a management of OSP Telecommunications Construction or highly related position
  • 7+ years in the telecommunications industry
  • Ability to pass a Background check and Drug Screen.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in telecom construction or related industry, with a minimum of [5] years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques, particularly related to telecom infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., OSHA, NEC, FCC).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Penguin, Asana, Smartsheets).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or construction-related disciplines is a plus.
