Job Summary:

The Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) is responsible for developing and executing human resource functions in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction for both UCP of GA and SC, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. The CHRO provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans to the executive management team, stakeholders and the Board of Directors.

Director of Human Resources, Generalists, Trainers

Travel Requirements: Up to 50%

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the company's mission and strategic vision.

  • Develop and implement HR functions and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives.

  • Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key organizational and management issues.

  • Work with the company's executive management team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals.

  • Develop and implement plans related to Employee Wellness.

  • Manage and create plans to measure and improve employee engagement.

  • Develop and implement plans to support safety and workers comp management, investigate workplace injuries and oversee return to work process.

  • Oversee leave management including FMLA and LWOP.

  • Develop recommendations on comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective.

  • Develop and deliver training plans that meet the requirements of all authorizers for both UCP GA and SC as well as the creation of training plans for professional development and compliance.

  • Identify vendors to perform services related to HR functions.

  • Oversee risk and compliance programs associated with training, recruitment, and other aspects of the employee life cycle.

  • Oversee and provide guidance on employee relations issues; discuss matters with outside counsel as needed.

  • Oversee disciplinary process and provide support to managers in this area. Direct disciplinary meetings as appropriate. Discuss matters with outside counsel as needed.

  • Create policies and manage existing HR policies for accuracy and to reflect any changes in the external environment or regulatory oversight.

  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation, and benefits for both states.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with individuals, families, co-workers, and community members.
  • Maintain objectivity in position to set appropriate limits, while working with individuals and team members.
  • Maintain respect for cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and individual differences.
  • Travel to various program sites and external locations for meetings and other events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Certifications and Licenses:

Valid Georgia Driver’s License

Education and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred. A minimum of 15 years of HR experience, with at least five years of executive HR experience.
