Position Summary:

The Merchandiser is responsible for developing seasonal line plan architecture for their area of responsibility (AOR) and oversees full life-cycle development for the upcoming season. This job may oversee different brand(s) (approximately one to two brand(s)) and may also manage Assistant Merchandisers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reviews previous selling with Design team, analyzes trends and presents recommendations for new season.
  • Collaborates with the Design team in developing the seasonal line by giving direction on styles and colors.
  • anages presentation preparation by working with the Sales team on the meeting requirements. This also includes pulling actual products for key account meetings, market weeks and trade shows.
  • Processes adoptions by completing style set-ups in Product Lifestyle Management (PLM), conducting hand-off meetings with Sourcing Coordinators, and verifying all product details and quotes.
  • Owns and manages the calendar workflow to ensure timely completion of all seasonal milestones and crucial presentations.
  • Conducts follow-up with suppliers with daily email communications about questions, sample status, costing, resourcing and adoptions.
  • Coordinates with factories to develop prototypes. Reviews prototypes and ensures they are made according to specifications.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Education/License Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising or equivalent degree/experience

General Experience Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in merchandising of consumer products, design, or product development
  • Accessories design experience

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities (e.g. software proficiency, language, project management):

  • Technical knowledge as it relates to raw materials and finished goods manufacturing
  • Supervisory experience and/or leadership skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and other Office Products, Adobe Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop a plus
  • Knowledge of Product Development Cycle Management such as PLM or similar program
  • Excellent presentation skills for internal and external customers

Working Conditions/Physical Demands (e.g. lifting 50 lbs., travel requirements):

  • Ability to travel frequently on domestic and international trips (25% - 30%), previous experience traveling overseas is a plus.
  • Must able to receive, lift, open and unpack boxes containing product samples
