Macon Housing Authority is seeking a motivated accounting intern who is ready to apply knowledge of financial terms and principles to an authentic real-world experience. The intern will assist with a wide range of duties, including analyzing data, preparing financial reports, and learning about varied accounting activities. This in an exciting opportunity for any student pursuing a career in real estate, affordable and mixed-use finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assist with month-end financial reports.
Post journal entries.
Help with accounts receivable, payable, and bank statement reconciliation.
Assist with audits.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
Assist with processing weekly deposits.
Record monthly acquisition of inventory.
Assist with data entry and filing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Must be in the process of completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting.
Must have completed introductory accounting courses and possess a basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.
Must have an aptitude for math.
Proficient with computers and different software programs.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organization and time management skills with ability to work without distraction.
Impeccable attention to detail.
Must have a high sense of rigor to prevent any form of mistake that may occur in documenting financial information.
Ability to multitask.
Must be a team player and motivated with a strong desire to take on new challenges.
