Data Science and Bioinformatics Team - HealthCare Data Analyst Mid.

Skills and Qualifications Required:
a. Support data science tools (Databricks, Spark, Jupyter, R, Machine Learning)
b. Provide expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence including cloud-based tools
c. Provide expertise in bioinformatics and data science programming languages (e.g., R, Python, Perl)
d. Provide expertise in bioinformatics and development of genomics workflows (E.g., Nextflow Tower)
e. Provide expertise in public health data standards, vocabularies, and data transport
f. Provide cloud-based data science support including cloud-based SQL and non-SQL server, which may include databases such
as SQL Server as a Service, Data Lake technology, such as Databricks Delta Lake, and Data Warehousing
h. Object-oriented design principles and patterns and be able to apply those principles in designing object-oriented code and architectures.
i. MS Azure Delta Lake, Databricks, Kubernetes, and other cloud-based analytics tools within Azure and AWS where appropriate
j. Develop and utilize statistical and analytical procedures for producing reports and performing data engineering, wrangling, exploration, and usage for qualitative, statistical, biological, and geospatial data format
k. Provide trend analysis to make informed decisions regarding resource management
l. Assist in the planning, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies
m. Provide expertise in the design of schemas / data structures and the use of unified modeling language (UML) to define data relationships.
n. Implement correlation and regression analysis (linear, logistic, log linear) techniques, time series and principles based on time series analysis.
o. Use an assortment of sampling methodologies.
p. Provide expertise in modern data visualization technologies, techniques, and best practices.
q. Design, develop, and maintain complex analytic applications within the existing technology environment.
r. Manage, clean, and validate large data sets.
s. Produce and disseminate statistical data to CDC stakeholders.
t. Implement source control and change management processes.
u. Assist with the development and maintenance of underlying databases, tables, and stored procedures.
v. Use data management processes using common relational and non-relational database
management systems, including cloud native data platforms (e.g., Databricks, NoSQL, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL) document model database systems (e.g., MongoDB)
w. Provide iterative and incremental development methodologies using database best practices.
x. Deploy and maintain databases in multiple environments.
y. Provide web application and database hosting environments.
z. Provide production system deployments and change control processes and procedures required for deploying production releases.

Conduct quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
Provide setup, managing, indexing, book marking of data warehouse, data marts, metadata registries and scanning operations.
Assist with entering and maintaining data in health information systems monitoring databases and provide analysis of data. Develop and tune stored procedures, views, indices, and user-defined functions.
Develop and tune SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and Reports.
Design and implement reproducible data processing and analysis using open-source software (e.g., Jupiter Notebooks, R Markdown Notebooks) and version control (i.e., Git)

Responsibilities of the HealthCare Data Analyst Mid.

Provide training to CDC personnel, state and local government personnel, and other contractors on how to program web-based surveys and manipulate datasets using common statistical programming languages.
1 Collect structured and unstructured data from disparate sources.
2. Clean and validate data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and uniformity.
3. Apply supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms to data to identify patterns and trends.
4. Communicate findings to stakeholders using visualizations, interactive components (like Rshiny), etc.
5. Provide technical information services by analyzing, summarizing, and coding the intellectual content of scientific, medical, technological, or other specialized information related to developing or maintaining scientific information systems.

6. Develop thesauri, list of descriptions, subject heading lists, etc.
7. Provide Power BI and data science dashboard support including integration into other data visualization platforms.

Project Requirements:

  • Ensure project documentation is accessibility compliant.
  • Communicate and work as cohesive team member, who can discuss and educate team members on new analytic metrics and studies.


Core Skills:
  • Must have SAS skills and experience to produce statistical tables, reports and data analysis of healthcare data.
  • Able to multitask and handle multiple priorities with a calm, positive attitude, and professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self- starter and be able to work with all types of personnel with a professional attitude.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Must be a technically savvy, highly self-motivated and independent worker.
  • Highly developed soft skills / people skills and a positive attitude.
  • Virtual meeting software experience such as MS Teams or GoToMeeting is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Teams preferred.


Educational Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree or an associate degree plus 2 years relevant experience, or 4 years relevant experience required in Information Systems, Computer Science, Nursing, Medicine, Public Health, Medical Informatics, Statistics or other relevant clinical discipline is required.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience.


Although we are 100% virtual, you must be located in one of our hiring states of AL, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, MD, MI, MN, ND, PA, TX, VA, or WI.

Atlanta, GA location is preferred.

Must have high speed internet connection.
