We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced procurement specialist. This role will support MKB operations by coordinating and negotiating the procurement of raw material, supplies and equipment to meet each site production and facility operational needs. Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of supply chain management including supplier quality, timely and effective delivery and cost efficient pricing.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the purchasing and negotiation of Bulk Materials (Straw, Mulch, Switchgrass).
  • Expedite purchase order processing to ensure that on-time delivery of materials and supplies supports sales, production and general company needs and objectives.
  • Review existing standard bidding process procedures to allow for analysis of customer product and service costs, making changes if necessary. Develop SOP for this process.
  • Learn and utilize both the manual and automated purchase order system to streamline processes and improve workflow. Serve as point person and reference for others seeking to understand and utilize purchase order system.
  • Develop weekly task sheet to prioritize projects and initiatives. Update and share with supervisor on a weekly basis.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external sales account customers to ensure accounts are experiencing a high degree of service.
  • Proactively seek input and feedback from internal customers to ensure that current needs are being met timely, product quality is satisfactory and upcoming needs are identified.
  • Achieve cost reduction and/or containment through negotiation, rebates, material substitutions and process improvements while maintaining quality standards and positive cost vs. benefit relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to create corporate contracts providing discount rates on general supplies and equipment.
  • Oversee the evaluation and selection of current and potential suppliers.
  • Expedite purchase order processing to ensure that on-time delivery of materials and supplies supports sales, production and general company needs and objectives.
  • Use Netsuite ERP, Excel, Word, Outlook and other related software to plan, schedule and communicate
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience as a purchasing specialist or in a similar role preferred
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and decision-making, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with manufacturing software and Microsoft Office applications.
