Keith Company engineers and manufactures state of the art industrial furnaces, kilns and ovens that are sold to domestic and international customers. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of the design and testing of mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Reports to the Engineering Manager for day-to-day operation job duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive a continuous improvement-based vision for the team and manufacturing processes.
- Perform process calculations for thermal and mechanical systems.
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies for thermal processing, automation, and process machinery.
- Work with Electrical Engineering manager to implement instrumentation and controls.
- Manage CAD design team in creating and designing sketches, layouts, and drawings.
- Use CAD software to create preliminary and detailed models and drawings.
- Draft specifications for mechanical components and instruments to meet system requirements.
- Specify materials suitable to the thermal and mechanical requirements of the application.
- Perform FEA simulation where appropriate.
- Support manufacturing team answering their questions
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Maintain records and reporting systems according to the company standards and industry regulations of Keith Company ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Prepare requisitions for components and materials for manufacturing MRP
- May need to travel less than 10%.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
- Ability to work independently and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software; SolidWorks, PDM, ACAD, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT, OneNote, Outlook 365, and MS Teams).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least five years of job-related experience required. Prior experience working with furnaces and/or kilns is beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Standing, climbing, or kneeling is necessary to evaluate large mechanical structures.
- Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to access and inspect all areas of the facility.
