Job Description
Private twelve acre estate is looking for a dedicated gardening specialist to join our growing team. The team’s mission is to maintain healthy grounds with a variety of plants using an organic approach. You will perform lawn and irrigation maintenance, plant and pest identification and hand pruning as needed, to ensure the growth and vibrancy of the plants, flowers, lawns, and garden structures. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants, excellent problem-solving skills and self-motivation with a professional demeanor.
Job Duties
Installs, maintains, feeds, prunes, trims, and waters a variety of plants, trees, and shrubs
Manually removes, installs, and maintains plant material in beds and containers.
Relocates specimen trees and shrubs when needed.
Cleans fountains on property regularly.
Keeps garden paths and green spaces clear of debris.
Maintains the sprinkler and irrigation systems, including identifying and resolving leaks.
Knowledge of well operations is a bonus.
Works safely with a variety of power equipment, such as ride on mowers, edgers, trimmers and blowers.
Assists with pest control on the grounds and the buildings with the use of different techniques for the health and safety of occupants
Assists with outdoor pool furniture - covers, umbrellas and moving of furniture as needed.
Interacts with and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, Estate manager, co-workers, contractors, vendors, guests and occasionally homeowners.
Job Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of gardening experience, no less.
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Legal authorization to work in the US
Satisfactory background check
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be able to perform work on a ladder.
Must be able to safely operate power machinery.
Knowledge Requirements:
Maintenance of garden areas.
Knowledge of different plants and maintenance requirements.
Knowledge of power tools and equipment needed for landscape work.
Ability to understand and comply with requirements for the safe performance of work.
Planting, mulching, fertilization, plant treatments.
Irrigation install, diagnosis and repair.
Landscape lighting install, diagnosis and repair.
Plant ID, plant care experience, plant palette design.
