Senior Manager, Materials

The Materials Manager leads a team to ensure the efficient and accurate movement of materials in support of manufacturing needs and customer requirements. This includes interfacing with Procurement and Planning to maintain inventory and provide an uninterrupted supply for production. Monitors practices, procedures, and outputs with a continuous improvement mindset and adjusts to achieve optimal material flow through the operation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops methods, practices and techniques to ensure the most economical movement of materials through the supply chain to achieve cost-effective manufacturing logistics practices and inventory levels while meeting customer delivery requirements.
Ensures that policies, procedures and systems are in place to ensure continuous operations and demand fulfillment
Closely monitors Supply Chain output measures (i.e. Attainment, Material Availability, Inventory Accuracy, Schedule Efficiency) and develops tactics and strategies to ensure plant/product line optimal supply chain execution.
Develops and implements both short-term and long-term plans to align with departmental and operations strategies
Supports and drives the continuous improvement strategy
Ensures effective communications and relationships are developed and maintained with support functions
Regularly monitors production schedules, forecasts, inventories, and related information to adjust plan to fulfill production requirements
Reviews needed materials for schedule changes and confirms if the material can support. Communicates this information to planning and buyers.
Identifies at risk materials and works directly with Procurement and Planning to develop actions to address in a timely manner.
Monitors and request follow ups with Procurement and Planning on overdue and at-risk materials to ensure uninterrupted supply to production
Works with Procurement and Planning to proactively investigate, notify, and assist in resolving problems resulting from material shortages.
Actively monitors and addresses inventory discrepancies or issues to ensure inventory accuracy for assigned categories.
Manages obsolete, aged and expired materials
Analyzes data and prepares consolidated managerial reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions
Meets regularly with direct reports to set goals and monitor progress towards goals
Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures (EEO, Sexual Harassment, Safety, Quality, etc.)
Role may require off-shift and weekend work as needed
