Job Description

Dynavac is in search of an energetic and experienced Maintenance Supervisor who puts safety first and will be responsible for building and leading a team in a combination of duties in connection with the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of Dynavac infrastructure and machinery and equipment.  Duties are spread between our Hingham MA and Rockland MA locations (five-minute drive). Other duties would be required to support manufacturing operations.

Dynavac, located in Hingham MA (south of Boston), is an engineering and manufacturing company that builds custom high vacuum process capital equipment for a range of applications that include aerospace testing and thin film coatings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance, and maintain recordkeeping, for machines, equipment, and facilities.
    • Maintain our Preventive Maintenance (PM) System using Word, Excel, and/or PM software.
  • Perform regular safety inspections and maintain inspection records of machines, equipment, and facilities – on paper and on computer files.
  • Keep stock of parts and materials for preventive maintenance.
  • Pipe fitting of plastic and metal pipe, bathroom fixture repairs.
  • Electrical trouble shooting during preventive maintenance repairs.
  • General painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
  • General cleanup and workspace organization.
  • Snow removal and yard cleanup.
  • Run errands, pickups, and deliveries; must have clean RMV record.
  • Keep log of tools issued to workers from tool crib.
  • Manage field job toolboxes; inspect tools and repair if necessary.
  • ISO 9000 environment knowledge is preferable.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Think ‘Safety First’ and comply with workplace safety and quality regulations.
  • Adherence to Dynavac ISO 9000 Quality policies.
  • Other duties as required.

 SUPERVISOR DUTIES

  • Build and lead a small team of maintenance technicians.

 COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of safe workplace practices.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Competent in managing a preventive maintenance program in accordance with ISO 9000 and minimizing down time.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal direction.
  • Competent in use of a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Competent in use of material handling equipment – hand carts, etc.
  • Competent in use of forklifts and other powered industrial vehicles.
  • Carpentry/plumbing/electrical tradesman skills desirable.
  • Competent in rigging, lifting and millwright.
  • Competent in maintaining and upgrading a water chiller system.
  • Competent in maintaining and upgrading a liquid nitrogen delivery system.
  • Competent in maintaining and upgrading electrical systems.

 EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS 

  • Required: Clean motor vehicle record.
  • Minimum high school degree and five years’ experience manufacturing, construction or similar workplace environment, or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Trade school experience is beneficial.
  • Hoisting license preferred.  We will train.
  • Minimum of 5 years leading a maintenance team for a manufacturing company.
  • Must have word / excel / computer knowledge to record and maintain the (PM) System Preventive Maintenance System.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk; and hear. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to working at heights; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
  • Employee must always comply with Dynavac Safety procedures.
