Shipping Manager

Position Summary: Responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of shipping, including trucking/transportation companies and key customer logistics teams. Managing activities of traffic clerks, receiving, stockers, team leader, and workers responsible for picking product and preparing it for shipping both nationally and internationally. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: Planning and assigning work, developing, and maintaining department work instructions, evaluating individual performance, coaching, and training personnel, enforcing company policies uniformly, managing time off requests to ensure appropriate coverage of department and ensuring timely shipments to fulfill customer requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Develop, mentor, coach, monitor and motivate your staff individually and as a group.
• Drive process improvements to better serve customers.
• Ensure all orders ship on time with 99% fill rate or higher.
• Develop and maintain KPI’s for the shipping and receiving department.
• Implement LEAN processes.
• Assist employees in resolving concerns and complaints.
• Enforce company policies and practices uniformly and consistently.
• Maintain a safe work environment and enforcing all safety policies.
• Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments as well as warehouse.
• Ability and willingness to assist and fill in as necessary in the department and for other supervisors.
• Suggest overall operations, facility, and process improvements.
• Promotes 5-S within the department as well as the overall facility.
• Ensures that department efficiencies are completed daily, posted to the appropriate reports and KPI slides updated every morning.
• Ensures that all customer routing information and compliances are being followed.

Requirements:

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business or logistics
• 3 -4 years supervisory experience in a warehouse, distribution center or manufacturing environment.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Computer proficient (Windows, MS Office, manufacturing software systems, inventory systems experience, Warehouse Management Systems).
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all company personnel.
