Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Technician

Seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician for the University of South Carolina's Student Health Services, an accredited patient-centered medical home within a college health environment. The ideal candidate will perform laboratory tests and procedures such as hematology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and chemistry according to written protocols. Incumbent will operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as microscopes, hematology analyzers, centrifuges, etc. Communicate test results to medical staff as well as additional information related to appropriate testing and results. Perform quality improvement procedures as well as continuing education and safety training. This position also requires administrative duties such as receiving and interpreting laboratory orders, coding and order entry of outside physician requests. A working knowledge of ICD and CPT codes, and familiarity with electronic ordering and management systems are necessary. Hours are generally 30-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday between our open hours of 8am - 6pm with an occasional Sunday rotation (2pm - 8pm). This is an hourly position.
