General Description:
This position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee day to day operations of the accounting department which include Financial Reporting, A/P, A/R, Payroll, GL, Inventory and support treasury requirements as needed.
- In collaboration with the ED of Finance & Accounting. supervise accounting/finance staff, including training and maintaining adequate staffing levels, providing continuous coverage for all accounting/finance functions.
- Review and Support the maintenance of all balance sheet schedules and reconciliations. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy of all general ledger and subledger activity
- Support daily revenue recognition and reconciliation of all related accounts including accounts receivable and deferred revenues.
- Responsible for timely month-end close and issuance of complete financial statements
- Oversee employee 401k, workers compensation, and insurance policies schedules, submissions and reconciliations
- Preparation of financial statements with comparisons and analysis of prior periods and budgets.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Assist with documentation and update standard policies and procedures as needed
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Monitor the performance of accounting department Team Members and provide training and development as needed.
- Support managing the relationships with external clients: insurance brokers and auditors
- Assist Executive Director with annual budget and other related projects
- Ensure compliance with financial record retention policies.
- Ensure licenses and permits are maintained and renewals filed timely
- Attend other departmental meetings to keep appraised of other operations and to provide outside input to enhance the department’s operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, AND four (4) years of professional level experience in accounting, two (2) years of which were in a management or supervisory capacity.
Experience and Education Substitutions:
- Food & Beverage/Hospitality Industry experience strongly preferred
- An equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.
Licensing and Certification:
- CPA certification strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles of effective communication, including writing clearly and accurately. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal taxes. Working knowledge of business law and Department of Labor regulations. Understanding of complex computerized financial systems including automated payroll systems. Knowledge of GAAP principles.
Skilled in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), organization & time management. Strong project management skills. Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to communicate to a range of audiences to convey information effectively, persuasively, and accurately. Must be able to multi-task, maintain a high level of professionalism, and remain calm under pressure. Ability to exercise judgment in evaluating situations with the ability to use independent judgment.
