Position Summary:

The Director of Nutritional Services oversees the provision of food service and clinical nutrition services, which adequately supports quality patient care.  This includes ensuring that food preparation and service is performed by qualified and appropriately trained staff, developing and adhering to the operational and capital budgets, developing of job descriptions and criteria-based performance evaluation, and overseeing the Quality Control and Quality Improvement Programs.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible administratively for the day-to-day functioning of Nutrition Services
• Responsible for food and supplies utilized in dry/cold storage areas for the appropriate use to ensure minimal waste while also maintaining par levels in kitchen
• Responsible for patient nutrition assessment and education to ensure adequate nutritional therapy
• Establishes and monitors a quality control system which ensures that all areas of the department have a mechanism for recording and maintaining the same
• Develops and oversees the adherence to the operational and capital budgets for the department
• Ensures all Nutritional Services employees receive information concerning responsibilities.
• Ensures that effective communications and working relationships exist between the Nutrition Services and other departments
  Skills & Abilities
• Bachelor's Degree required
• Three to five years of supervisory experience in health care facility preferred
• Registered Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional-Current ServSafe certification is also required
