Job Description

Responsible for product evaluations, including optics, electronics, electrical safety, thermal management, mechanical safety, robustness of design, physical measurements, software compatibility, packing and ergo dynamics. Providing product training to other Chauvet employees and supporting sales and Quality Assurance teams in their interaction with external customers.


Job Requirements: include the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Review and evaluate prototypes and samples for ease of repair and serviceability and compliance to technical requirements, including optics, electronics, electrical safety, thermal management, mechanical safety, robustness of design, and ergo dynamics. Diagnose product issues and recommend corrective actions when applicable. Document, file, and report technical feedback.
  • Collect, verify, confirm and initiate all technical specifications of assigned products, including photometrics, software compatibility, physical characteristics, power and power linking requirements, drive currents, PWM Frequencies, lux measurements and strobe rates, ensuring that products meet all applicable worldwide standards, including electrical ones. Document, file and present technical data as directed.
  • Evaluate competing products against assigned Chauvet products and technical requirements.
  • Evaluate and update software into prototypes.
  • Offer feedback and suggestions on current and future products and products in development.
  • Review and confirm the accuracy of technical manuals and other technical documents, including product specifications, data sheets and other technical documents.
  • Train internal (Quality Control, Sales, Tech repair, Customer Service) and external representatives and customers.
  • Assist QA team in troubleshooting product issues and recommending corrective actions when applicable.
  • Work with Quality Control on inspection of first shipments of new products; provide technical expertise on electrical and mechanical operation of the unit(s). Assist with the development of solutions for product defects.
  • Collaborate with Product managers and offer suggestions on future product designs and functionality.
  • Work with Customer Service to troubleshoot, report and document issues.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years experience and/or training in prototype/sample evaluation and teardown/reassembly of lighting, small electronics or technical products prototype or equivalent combination of education, experience, and supervisory skills.
  • Proficiency in use of major PC applications including Microsoft Office, CAD, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Must complete Chauvet University Modules 1-6.


Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, and/or lift/move up to fifty pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Overnight travel via air or land transportation required.


Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, but may involve exposure

to moderate noise levels from printers and other peripherals
