Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County, Inc., (LVMC), a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization, provides free educational services to adults who desire to learn to read, obtain the High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma by preparing them for the GED®, or learn to communicate in English. The majority of our staff have been with us for 5+ years some of which have been here for over 14 years! We pride ourselves in our mission and would love for you to join our team.
We are seeking Adult Educators to join our organization at our two locations in Phoenix for both Full Time and Part Time Positions.
Job Requirements:
- Pass a Level 1 Background Check
- Bachelors degree with teaching experience
- Must have a Adult Education Certificate from the State of AZ (or receive it within 90 days of start date)
- Be willing to commute to our centers every day for work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Instructs, supports, and manages student educational achievement
- Teach in the areas of reading, math, social studies, science (GED preparation); and English language acquisition
- Teach in a hybrid flexible environment, using technology. Teaching students in person and virtually simultaneously.
- One on one interaction providing motivation, goal setting, and documenting student progress.
- Adult Educator supports all students at all levels as part of a collaborative Learning Center instructional team.

LVMC utilizes contextualized educational materials to help adults become literate, acquire soft skills and employability skills, attain an HSE and help immigrants and other adults who are English language learners improve their English and math skills as well as their understanding of the American system of government. LVMC helps adults attain employment and economic self-sufficiency, successfully participate in the educational development of their children, transition into post-secondary education and job skills training, and fully integrate and participate in our society.
