Job Description

This position is based at Evapco’s Madera, CA facility and will report to the Quality Assurance Manager. This position will promote improvements to the overall welding quality and process improvements of all welding processes through constant partnership with corporate engineering and leading in-house training and qualification programs.



Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

    • Bachelors degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology or Welding-related field.
    • Minimum 3 years of previous work experience in Welding Engineering or a welding related field.
    • Aws Certified Weld Engineer (CWEng) Certification
    • CWI credential or ability to obtain
    • Practical welding experience with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW and Oxy Fuel.
    • Experience with the ASME Section IX Welding Code, AWS D1.1, ASME B31.5 Welding Codes strongly preferred.
    • Aptitude with 2D and 3D design software, preferably AutoCAD and Solid Edge
    • Excellent communication skills required/ Bilingual in English and Spanish, is preferred.
    • Advanced user knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment to meet customer requirements and expectations

    • Ability to solve problems analytically with root cause analysis tools

Essential Functions


  • Commit to safety procedures.
  • Follow all Evapco Engineering standards.
  • Review and apply travelers for preparation of Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and Welding Material test samples.
  • Initiate procurement action by preparing and processing purchase orders for all weld material tests and all welder performance and procedure qualification sample testing.
  • Work with the Corporate Weld Engineer to facilitate the exchange of information.
  • Assist in Engineering, Quality and Product Development departments with any technical issues regarding welding and fabricability requirements for projects.
  • Apply knowledge of production specifications, properties, and characteristics of metals and metal alloys to develop welding techniques and procedures, as well as apply welding equipment to problems involving the fabrication of metals.
  • In conjunction with Corporate, Welding Engineers develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, and identify and evaluate the latest welding equipment, materials, and techniques for possible application to shop welding practices or production processes as well as serve as customer contact for technical issues regarding welding requirements.
  • Guide, assist, and supervise the in-house welder training program
  • Establishes standards for the disposition of finished products by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.
  • Establishes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.
  • Establishes product quality documentation system by writing and updating internal quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing corporate and local quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product, engineering, manufacturing recommendations and training methods.
  • Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees to follow up on work results.
  • Maintains quality assurance staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, coaching, counseling, training and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
