Packaging Technician

Turner Industries Group is looking for experienced Packaging Technicians in the Decatur, AL area. This role is responsible for safe packaging and shipping of materials in a chemical plant.

Job qualifications:

• Mandatory background check and drug test
• Valid picture ID/ State issued ID
• Willingness to be part of a team
• Forklift operation is a plus
• Warehouse/packaging experience is a plus
• On the job training will be provided

Per diem and relocation are not available for this position; the successful candidate will be a current resident in the Decatur, AL area.

Job duties:

• Responsible for safe operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of material loading systems.
• Perform quality control activities: checking for damaged containers or bags prior to shipping, verification of proper paperwork/labeling.
• Build package tops/bottoms
• Operate stacking line
• Install edge stripping, covering, and side plates
• Disassemble and decontaminate packages
• Housekeeping
• Communication with team

Schedule:

• Shift work

Functional Requirements:

Assumes responsibility for assisting in meeting plant production requirements as set by client/owner; observant of operating process equipment and maintenance needs; communicating with supervision as necessary to ensure maximum performances as outlined by production goals. Task included, but not limited to: spreading, scraping, and packaging.

Qualification Standards:

• Written pre-employment qualification test
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Pass background check

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 100 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction.

Work Environment Factors:

• Location: industrial maintenance and construction sites and/or manufacturing facilities

• Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas

• Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
