MECHANIC

Job Summary:

With general direction from the Shop Supervisor, a Mechanic provides a wide range of technical services on company buses, vans, and automobiles. This is a journeyman position that requires significant technical training and/or experience. Also works under the direction of the Operations Manager.

Qualified Diesel Mechanic candidates for this hourly position should have:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses applicable to diesel bus or truck maintenance and repair;
2. At least two (2) years hands-on experience as a mechanic/technician in an automotive, school bus fleet, trucking or heavy equipment environment ,or any equivalent combination of education and experience;
3. ASE certification is a plus. Valid CDL is preferred with S and P.

1. Perform thorough, accurate PM inspections;
2. Follow company required schedules and complete all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustment, and tire rotation;
3. Perform unscheduled maintenance as needed and directed by supervisor;
4. Perform complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests;
5. Perform emergency roadside services as needed;
6. Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately;
7. Maintain tools and work place so that shop conditions are neat and orderly.

NOTE: Job may require on-call duty, extended hours, or weekend work
