Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Test Technician I role to join our growing and dynamic Rail team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator.

The successful Test Technician I candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You will be responsible for performing advanced system level troubleshooting along with repairs to component level on mobile video, signage, and lighting products for Luminator's transportation partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge the organization effectively, resolve problems, and willing to provide a hands-on approach in finding solutions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.   • Perform inspection, test, troubleshoot, and repair of systems, components, and other products, using established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair to component level Customer returned repairs, both warranty and non-warranty.
  • Setup and configure test fixtures, mechanical and/or electrical controls, cabling, power sources, and measuring instruments.
  • Soldering, both through hole and SMT.
  • Read Mechanical Drawing and Electrical Schematics.
  • Setup and test industrial equipment to ensure that it functions properly.
  • Evaluate message listings and digital content for appropriate formatting for each product type.
  • Inspect components of equipment for accurate assembly and installation or for defects, such as loose connections or frayed wires.
  • Maintain ESD protected areas and all required charts.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is necessary.
  • Other job duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

The Test Technician I will be an experienced candidate who can successfully lead as a very hands-on Test Technician to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

This candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of testing, repair, and manufacturing procedures and systems.
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to monitor and assess your performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to OSHA safety guidelines every day.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to speak clearly so others comprehend the delivery of the message.
  • Ability to solder through hole and surface mount components.
  • Ability to read and explain schematics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required, including but not limited to Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of RS232, RS485, J1708, CAN bus, Ethernet, etc. is a plus.
  • 0-2(+) years of experience in product testing environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • AS degree is preferred.

The Test Technician I will prioritize and broadly execute the following:

  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, complex technical issues in a clear, concise matter, to individuals with little or no technical background.
  • Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change along with having attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage projects to ensure all deadlines are met is essential.
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, setup functions, enter data, or process information.
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It doesn't involve solving the problem, only recognizing that there is a problem.
  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with details and fluctuating work volumes.
